  Medu Vada also known as uddina vade (Kannada),ulindu vada (Tamil),uzhunnu vada (Malayalam). Medu is a Kannada word which means "soft" thus 'Medu Vada' means "Soft Fritter".
      Medu Vada is a South Indian breakfast or snacks dish which is made popular outside Karnataka by South Indian restaurants more specifically Udupi restaurants.
      Medu Vada is prepared using urad dal/split black gram.
                
Urad dal is full of protein, vitaminB, iron,folic acid, calcium, magnesium & potassium which make urad dal a super food.
Recipe to make Medu Vada
Ingredients
Urad dal 2cup
Chopped Coconut 1tbsp
Chopped Curry leaves 1tbsp
Chopped Ginger 1inch
Chopped Chilli 2
Salt as per taste
Oil for deep Frying

Method
      *Wash and soak the urad dal for 4-5hr.
      *Drain the water
      *Grind the urad dal in a mixie or grinder by adding very little water(only if required) to a smooth dough. *Transfer the batter into to a bowl.
 
       *Add Chopped Ginger, chilli, curry leaves & coconut.
       *Add salt as per taste.
       *Mix well
       *Smooth & fluffy dough is ready.
Use this tricks to make a perfect shape vada.
        * Take a tea strainer dip in water.
        * Take ball size dough.
        * Place dough upon a strainer & make a hole in middle of the vada.
         * Flip it in hot oil and deep fry till light golden brown.
         * Serve Medu Vada with Coconut chutney & Sambar.
Tip
* If ur batter becomes watery the you can add little rice flour.
* Fry the vada in medium flame so that it cooks within & don't burn the crust.
* Prepare vada as soon as you grind the batter to make soft vada.
